Link to Channel 7 News Story

It aired today, and here is the link.

Health Expo Gastric Bypass Story

I know that realistically, it is a great piece. Emotionally all I seem able to do is tear myself apart for how I look. Dysmorphia really is crappy.

An anonymous person left the following comment (which didn't get posted, so I am reposting it here):

Amy, congratulations! Everyone has to do what they have to do when weight gets out of hand. This is NOT a criticism but I want people to know that this amount of weight loss CAN be accomplished with a change in lifestyle and not surgery. I am down 132 pounds from my heaviest and I've lost 100 pounds in the last 8 months. Nothing more scientific than counting calories, exercising and becoming educated about nutrition, fitness and my body. Weight loss surgery is not a panacea and the weight CAN come back. I've seen it personally. Option 1 should always be non surgical methods. Nonetheless, you look great and I wish you all the best in staying healthy!

My response to this comment: It is one of the requirements of having bariatric surgery to have tried non-surgical means to losing weight and maintaining that weight loss before surgery is even a possibility. I personally had lost upwards of 80 lbs. prior through diet and exercise...only to gain it back and then some. It is important to me that this person leaving this comment be educated, as well as others, that weight loss surgery is typically a last-ditch effort for people who have tried all of the traditional, non-surgical means of weight loss first, and have failed to maintain that loss.
